Cosmological Simulations

hres6_movie.gif

In these high resolution zoomed cosmological simulations from the 'Smooth Filaments project', the LAAT tool was used to identify filaments, and the MBMS was used to trace out the backbone of the filaments.

In the image, orange shows the distribution of the dark matter. The backbone of the filaments is shown by black points.

See the Guided Examples for a step by step guide to running 1DREAM on cosmological simulation data.

Using the segment directions identified with crawling, a cross-sectional slice through the filament is made. The slice is shifted from one end of the filament to the other, mapping out the properties of the filament (density, velocity field, etc) along its entire length.
